The plane climbs out of Tusayan until the forest is a carpet and the canyon a crack in it – then the crack becomes the whole view. Sixteen thousand feet, the highest exit in the region, and a mile of extra air below the rim.

Ten minutes of ponderosa forest, flat and green, and then the ground simply stops. The pilot crosses the rim and six thousand feet of canyon open under the glass, the river a brown thread at the bottom. Nobody talks for a while.
The number is the canyon's, not the flight's. No operator publishes a flight altitude, so we print the depth you fly over. Flights leave from Tusayan, just outside the park gate, and the best-rated one (4.9, nearly 2,000 reviews) is the 45-minute helicopter. Airplanes are cheaper and fly the same corridor.

The jeep tips over a slickrock edge and the driver takes both hands off the wheel to point at the view. Fifteen hundred feet up to the rim on one trail; on Broken Arrow, a rock staircase the jeep walks down one wheel at a time.
The famous trail is not here. Broken Arrow – the one 33,000 people a month search for – is sold only by Pink Jeep Tours, not on GetYourGuide. The Scenic Rim and Rim Run tours are the same company's and a rival's climbs to the Mogollon Rim; Red Rock Range is the mild one. Book Broken Arrow direct and ride the rest from here.

A rock staircase, then the arch: 45 feet long, five feet wide in the middle, fifty feet of air on both sides. Everyone stops at the near end. Then someone walks out for the photo, and you realise you will too.
Free, and the queue is the hazard. There is nothing to book: park at Dry Creek Road, walk in, climb the staircase. Sunrise beats the crowd; by mid-morning there is a line for the photo on the arch. Guided vortex hikes and the jeep tours that drop you at the trailhead are the only things sold for it.

Eighty feet of sandstone chute, three feet wide, algae-slick, and Oak Creek pushing you down it at whatever speed it likes. The water is cold, the rock eats your shorts, and the queue at the top is kids on their sixth run.
The slide is a state park, the paddling is the bookable part. Slide Rock charges a car fee at the gate and sells nothing online; on summer weekends the lot fills by mid-morning. The Verde River kayak tours run flat water through the valley below Sedona, 30 to 40 minutes' drive – calm, cold and best in spring.

Two companies with Coconino National Forest permits fly the red rocks at first light, one to one and a half hours in the air, 48 inches tall to ride, 280 pounds and over by phone first. About 5,400 people a month search for it and no platform sells it – both operators book direct. No published altitude, so it stays out of the fall.
The slot canyon on the Navajo Nation and the bend in the Colorado are the most-booked things in northern Arizona by a distance – and two and a half hours north of Sedona. Sightseeing, not adrenaline, listed because you will go anyway.
Two hours each way, a guide, the rim overlooks and, on the Pink Jeep version at the park, Desert View. The cheap way to see the canyon; the flights above are the way to feel it.
Open-top Hummers along the South Rim at sunset, stopping at the overlooks the shuttle buses skip. Same rim, more engine.
Sedona is one of the best mountain-bike towns in the country – the Hangover trail is famous for a reason – but the platforms sell e-bike tours to the vortex sites and a rental. The hard trails you find yourself.
Sedona is an International Dark Sky Community. Night-vision goggles or telescopes on a hill outside town, an hour or two, zero pulse.

Yes – from Grand Canyon National Park Airport at Tusayan, just outside the South Rim entrance, the operator jumps from 16,000 feet and calls it the highest in the region. It is not sold on GetYourGuide or any platform we checked on Sept 25, 2026; book with the drop zone. From Sedona it is about two hours by road.
No. Broken Arrow – Submarine Rock, Chicken Point and the Road of No Return, two hours, run by Pink Jeep since 1960 – is sold only by the operator. GetYourGuide has Pink Jeep's Scenic Rim tour (about $129), the Red Rock Range tour (about $112) and a rival's Rim Run Supreme with a 1,500-foot climb to the Mogollon Rim (about $124). Book Broken Arrow direct and add one of these for the rim.
Fifty feet, by the Forest Service's own trail page, and about 45 feet long and five wide at the middle. It is the largest natural sandstone arch in the Sedona area and you can walk across the top. The trail is 1.6 miles round trip with 371 feet of gain from the Dry Creek Road trailhead, about two hours; it is free, and busiest by mid-morning.
A natural water slide in Oak Creek, seven miles north of Sedona: 80 feet of sandstone chute, two and a half to four feet wide, with a seven percent drop, polished by the creek and made slippery by algae. It is a state park with a per-car fee at the gate, no online tickets, and the lot fills on summer weekends – 278,330 people came in 2024.
From the South Rim, the 45-minute helicopter is the best-rated thing in these grounds (4.9 from nearly 2,000 reviews, about $359); the 40-minute airplane flies the same corridor for about $179. Sedona. The canyon's thrill is looking at it from the air; Sedona's is doing things on the rock – the jeep trails, the arch, the slide, the balloons, mountain biking. Give the canyon a day and sleep in Sedona.
